“OSC is like MIDI, only better.”
Control is a way of sharing data between computers.
Just like MIDI, OSC allows synthesizers to be slaved and chained. However, OSC allows collaborators to customize their messages. This promises to open up new ways of control and collaboration–for instance, video can be used to control sound, and so on.

A bit of background: Tad Ermitano is
one of the godfathers of media art in the Philippines, since the 80s
he's made everything from experimental films, to video art
installations, to punk gamelan robots. Malek Lopez pioneered live
electronic music in Manila with his many projects (Rubber, Inc., Drip) since the 90s, while also delving into fusion jazz
with the supergroup Humanfolk.

Hội thảo sẽ giới thiệu với thính giả những điểm căn bản của Open Sound Control. Open Sound Control là một phương pháp chia sẻ dữ liệu giữa các máy vi tính khác nhau.
Giống như MIDI, OSC cho phép các nguồn âm thanh điện tử kết nối và theo lệnh của nhau. Nhưng OSC còn cho phép các đơn vị trong hệ thống thay đổi các thông điệp theo ý muốn. Điều này mang lại một cách điều khiển và chia sẻ mới, ví dụ video có thể kiểm soát âm thanh và vv.
