Angkor Wat

The mother/daughter adventure continued onwards to Siem Reap, Cambodia, where Gavin met up with us to tour the temples of the ancient Khmer city of Angkor.  We spent two full days wandering through the expansive sites with our diligent, kind, and knowledgeable driver Sorn Ram, taking in the sites and meeting the local sellers.  Rather than posting one mega-post, I thought it might be easier to take it all in temple by temple.

Our initial stop was the magnificent Angkor Wat, which is encircled by a brackish, green moat and two sets of impressive walls.  Built by developer extraordinaire/king Suryavarman II in the 12th century, this was once one hell of a prayer center for the piously-inclined.

What fine nips!

Pay a dollar, get a pic with these Khmer gals. Don't pay a dollar, get a pic of random tourist and Khmer gals.

A nearby monastery and orphanage.

Hey Nellie !!

Sorry I haven't written, I did recently, damned thing erased my well thought-out and worded message, really annoyed me....

Glad your Mom is there, so Special, cherish it !!! My Mom has been to Angkor Wat as well... Your pictures are so great !!!! I especially lived the one right prior to the girls .... The view is what is burned unto my mind of SE Asia ..... I swear, I could feel the humidity again, the lush air, the feeling of total and complete timelessness, like every city and every freeway, every chain store or strange American fleeting fad was a million gazillion miles away....

So happy to see you there, you all look beautiful.

I'm still here in SF, in North Beach, with all the Italians. Tell Gavin, haha. Best part of SF and best food and people. I love it here, but I am fucking cold !!! I envy your weather like mad !!!!!!!

Love you both !!! Things here are heating up w my Romeo from TESLA.
