Locally Trapped Wildlife is a HCMC-based, artist-curated, alternative music showcase now in it's tenth installment.
Locally Trapped Wildlife là loạt chương trình biểu diễn của những nghệ sĩ nhạc alternative tại Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh, VN.
Locally Trapped Wildlife #10 is the official (DON'T CALL IT A) COMEBACK show!
We are proud to announce a return to the beloved Yoko cafe and feature very special performances of original music from legendary local indie rockers Gen (first show in 9 months), the revered yet reclusive Magic Pinions (first show in over a year), and LTW fixture OPN AIR DRG MKT.
Established in 2013 in HCMC, Gen is one of the longest running indie rock acts in all of Vietnam. This power trio packs a punch with a highly energetic live-show and showcases a songwriting style akin to that of British acts like Radiohead and Muse.
Muscular, riff-driven rock with powerful drumming and lots of volume, Gen is party music for the thinking mind. It's been since early 2018 that they played in HCMC, so let's bring them a warm welcome back!
Duke (guitar/vocal) - Hieu (bass) - Nori (drums)
Live: Gen - Norist
HCMC-based Magic Pinions (UK) has been making delightful "lo-fi bedroom trips" for over a decade and is a prolific recording artist (16 albums) and performer.
Experimental at heart, but with devout pop sensibilities and a keen ear for melodic transformations, Magic Pinions is a one-man sound experience that is not to be missed. His music ranges from lo-fi, pop, experimental, psychedelia and electronic, with each EP and album taking a different musical journey.
This is his first gig in over a year so expect a new set and new sounds. His latest is the 8 track album ‘Vivication’ which is available for free at the link below:
OPN AIR DRG MKT is a noise rock band formed in Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh, Việt Nam.
Bubbling up from the frenetic inertia of Saigon, this group is the propulsive progeny of two prolific, guitar-wielding songwriters emboldened by a clockworkstrong rhythm section. In just the past year, they have toured with the renowned The Cambodian Space Project, released a live EP (free at the link below), hosted about a dozen shows here in the city, and are currently preparing for Coracle Music Festival in November.
The ambient grief of the Quotidian Realm, and the thrill of an ear-worm melody are integral elements in OPNAIRDRGMKT’s ever-expanding sound.
Expect a swirling jangle of PURE ROCK N' ROLL energy laced with cosmic abstractions both enigmatic and familiar.
