Banteay Kdei and Srah Srang
Banteay Kdei is a consistently overlooked temple just a bit east of the illustrious Ta Prohm. Also set in the midst of a jungle, it can be underwhelming, but proved to be a nice late afternoon stroll. Below, behold the ubiquitous multi-headed cobra!
A Buddhist temple, Banteay Kdei was still housing monks until the 1960's!
Primarily made of crumbling sandstone, this site is in dire need of some restoration.
According to our driver, Srah Srang was once the world's largest swimming pool. This reservoir was originally built in the 10th century and is still a favorite watering hole of adventurous local children.
