This Weekend: Hoi An, Vietnam

Our weekend was spent in Hoi An, a jewel on the coast of Central Vietnam that has been unanimously voted (in this house) the "Best Place in Vietnam To Take Your Parents When They Visit".  Despite the increasingly invasive and pushy ware-sellers and the thick blanket of tourists that descend on the old town from the safe confines of their coach-boxes, we managed to have a fabulous time.  Although we kept the amount of pictureshooting to a minimum (someone forgot their camera at home, whoops!), I thought I should share some of the fun that was captured.

We stayed at Vinh Hung Riverside Resort again and found it to be the perfect locale from some intense R&R.  We enjoyed their great breakfast each morning, the complementary "local market" snacks served in the late afternoon, and the ever-friendly and helpful staff.  We spent an inordinate amount of time poolside, walked the short distance into town for bursts of shopping, and watched the technicolor sunset each evening from our comfortable perch on the languid riverside.

The resort also offers a complimentary boat ride into the heart of the old town.  In the blistering midday heat, there is no better way to travel.

Bach Dang Quay.  A flurry of activity at all times of the day.

Man on Bicycle.

Combing through the old town, picking up gifts, trinkets. and assorted oddities.

While Gavin stayed went to the beach, Momma and I managed to do some heavy-duty apparel buying.  I had two skirts and a dress made, and between the two of us we had nine pairs of shoes made!

We enjoyed several good meals and lots of iced beers.

A wonderful time was had by all!
