In My Free Time: Modeling

Imagine my surprise when I received a shout from fellow Saigon ex-pat and Japanese fashion designer, Sari, asking me to be one of the models for her up-and-coming hat collection that was to debut in late May through her Shoko imprint.  With ego ballooning, I happily agreed and met Sari at Imperial, the Russian bar in town, for my photo shoot.  I was excited to find out I was modeling alongside one of my good friends, Lacey Jay, as well.  We took a slew of pictures around the area: frolicking in front of graffiti-splashed walls, splayed against grimy metal fences, and even lounging on a well-worn sofa in the middle of the road.  Overall, we thought the shoot went well and the results (recently exhibited at a post-show party) corroborated our thoughts.

My pics begin about three minutes in:

While I wasn't able to make it to the runway fashion show due to a hectic weekend work schedule, I heard it was quite the event and it was great to see such a strong effort culminate in something great for the local artistic community.  It was so much fun taking part in the launch of Sari's new hat line!  Support local fashion and arts - visit Shoko @ 87 Le Thanh Ton St. in the heart of District 1.
